BETADINE Antiseptic Ointment

BETADINE kills germs. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, spores, viruses, and protozoa (unicellular organisms). Properly conducted disinfection prevents the spread of infection and ensure fast, trouble-free, not causing additional healing.

Betadine Antiseptic Ointment is recommended for the treatment of burns, wounds of septic and aseptic of trophic ulcers, bedsores, infected skin around the nails and tinea, and other skin infections and superinfected dermatoses. It is a bacterial, sporicidal and fungicidal antiseptic.


How does it work?
Povidone iodine belongs to a class of antiseptics known as iodophores. These chemicals exert their antiseptic effect by slowly releasing iodine. Antiseptics (sometimes called germicides) are chemicals that kill or prevent the growth of micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa and bacterial spores.


Do not use betadine
If you are allergic to iodine or povidone joduotam or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
If you have hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland)
If there are other acute thyroid diseases
Newborns and children less than 6 months of age
You suffer Diuringo (Duhring) herpetiformis inflammation of the skin (dermatitis)
Before treatment with radioactive iodine, and ionizing radiation test (scintigraphy)
